About the Header

My blog header is a picture of Kuhio Park Terrace, where my early childhood in Kalihi, Honolulu, Hawaii began. I am the one standing next to my father and my brother, Jamison, is the one goofing off. It was and still is one of the roughest housing projects on Oahu. It is part of who I am and where I am from.

Jamison Robert Dillard

Jamison "Jimmy" Robert Dillard, he was named for our dad, "James' son."  He was born October 18, 1976 in Wenatchee, Washington and died October 24, 2004 in Waipahu, Hawaii.

Jamison, though, we fought like dogs and cats, was one of my best friends.  He was my left hand, but my worst enemy.  If someone messed with him, I'd get mad and want to fight them.  He was 2 years older, but I was the bigger kid.  He was intelligent and had a good heart.  My daughters loved him.  He had childhood-onset diabetes and lived with that his whole life.  We went through a lot together, but it was one of the biggest heart breaks when I lost my big brother.

Jamison carved his initials into a picnic table on the top of Kealia Trail in Hawaii when we were teenagers.  It was still there as of 2017.
